We love to do tags, and we both know you all love to read them. That's why we are back with another one, this time the Readers Confessions Tag. This is a tag that will tell you a little bit more about us as readers.
Question of the day:
What's your worst reading habit? (like eating while you're reading and ruining the book, dog-earing the pages ect.)
Amber: I have, but not on purpose. I was reading A Game Of Thrones about one and a half years ago, which is a Mass Market Paperback (ugh I hate those) and they are so hard to read. I ended up cracking the spine like a million times, which is very painful. Same story for The Fellowship Of The Ring.
Shania: I've had a bunny for over a four years, and I know very well that he eats remotely everything, It wasn't a smart idea to leave my hardcover of Gone on the couch. Yes, the thing can even climb up or couch. He chewed up the whole front of the cover and it honesty makes me so sad...
2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
Amber: No, because I never borrow books, the rist I'll ruin it is too big and I wouldn't be able to live with myself than.
Shania: Nope, I never really borrow books because I like owning them better. And when I do borrow a book I am even more careful than with my own books.
3. How long does it take you to read a book?
Amber: It really depends on how much I like the book and if it's big or not. When I don't like the book but it's only 400 pages, it will take me a week to read. When I love the book and it's 700 pages I will finish it in 4 days.
Shania: That really depends. If I get sucked into the story, I can read it in three days. But it can also take me three weeks. It also depends on how much time I have.
4. Books that you haven’t finished?
Amber: The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. I don't even know why, I just thought the book was slow and not much was happening. I think I mainly stopped because I just wasn't in the mood for historical fiction. I may pick it up again in the near future.
Shania: Pft, so many!! But I am most ashamed about A Court of Thorns and Roses, because it's honestly such a good book, but I will make it my goal to finish it before the new book comes out!
5. Hyped/popular books that you don’t like?
Amber: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I just thought there wasn't anything special about it, I've read so many books that were better than that one. I honestly don't really see why John Green is so famous.
Shania: I have to go with The Fault In Our Stars as well. And while I don't have anything against John Green, his stories seem kind of the same thing over and over again to me. There's a boy, there's a girl but in the end they can be together. And I already think lovestory's suck! But when there's so much build up and there's not even an ending the characters deserve to have, it makes me SUPER FRUSTRATED RAHGH
6. Is there a book that you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
Amber: Perhaps like 50 Shades Of Grey if I would ever read that...Not that I'm planning to, but if there was any book I wouldn't want people see me reading it'd probably be that one.
Shania: Ehhmmmmm.... any John Green novel? I'd feel ashamed especially towards Ambs. Pls don't kill me, I'm a nice girl I swear!
7. How many books do you own?
Amber: right now I own 79 books, but I pre-ordered A Court Of Mist And Fury, so actually it's 80. And I have no idea for how long it'll stay that way, because I am tempted to buy new books far too often.
Shania: Uhm..... I honestly have no idea, I have books scattered everywhere since my mom and dad are divorced, but I think I have about 20 books at my dad.
8. Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?
Amber: I always considered myself a slow reader and I used to only be able to read like 25-30 pages an hour. Recently I set my stopwatch and time how much I can read an hour if I read at my usual pace and I read 65 pages, so I think I'm about an average reader now.
Shania: Slow, and I even wrote a post on the matter.
"There are numbers of research studies that tell us that kids who tend to read slower than other people have a lack of fluency, meaning they could just have Dyslexia. But guess what? I love being a slow reader, I will never be a fast reader and here are some reasons why."
9. Do you like to buddy read?
Amber: I do, though I've never done it before. I would love to read the same book at the same time with someone and discuss everything afterwards.
Shania: I'd love to, but I think I will never find someone with the same reading pace as me. I've been in a really long reading slump lately and I just need to pick up a book again, but I JUST GET DISTRACTED BY EVERYTHING LATELY.
10. Do you read better in your head or out loud?
Amber: Oh definitely in my head. I absolutely HATE reading out loud. I stumble over the words and just don't feel comfortable, especially when others are listening. I am too scared to make mistakes. Guess I'll never be an audio book narrator hahaha.
Shania: Everything sounds okay when I say it in my head, then I try to read out loud and then there's a stutter I have never heard me have before. It works better when I know what the text says before I read it out loud...?
11. If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
Amber: I have two books that really mean a lot to me and I am not going to pick between them: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas and Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. I cannot choose, it's like picking a favourite child.
Shania: This is such a hard question, but I think I'm gonna go with The Hobbit because the story NEVER bores me. I can read it as many times as I would want to without getting even slightly bored.
