Shania's Underrated Books

Welcome back to the second edition of Shania's Underrated Books. Today, I have something special in store for you guys. That being the first time I judged a book by it's cover! Oh my, oh my. I had never done such a thing before, especially since I most of the time just grab some random books I think I would enjoy reading. But then I came across Incarnate, the first book in the Newsoul series and I just HAD to read this book.

I absolutely loved it!

That is why I was so shocked to see so many negative reviews on this book. I am not much a fan of negativity anyway. That is why this blog is purely based on what we LIKED reading. I will not be a part of sharing negativity throughout the internet. No thank you I will pass.  But let's go on to the underrated book.

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

"A better love story than twilight.
It involves dragons.
And Love.
But I was sold because of 'Dragons.'"

The first chapters of this book seemed to melt into my mind. I think I almost hurt the spine by how rapidly I was turning the pages.. Sorry spine, I should have been more careful. Incarnate, for me, had such an interesting concept and it was unlike anything I have ever read before. I feel really bad for hurting the spine like that but I couldn't help myself.

I mostly read this book at night, in bed, with a nightlight on and my blankets wrapped around me. It wouldn't have surprised me if I woke up looking like a zombie the next morning. BUT I DIDN'T CARE I WANTED TO READ THIS PRECIOUS.

The story follows Ana. She is a newsoul. For over a thousand years in rage, the same souls have been reincarnated with all the memories of their previous lives. When Ana was born, she took the place of another soul. Ana was considered a mistake. She sets out to the city of Heart to find out why she had been placed in this world instead of Ciana.

The back of the book reads:

"New soul
Ana is new. For thousands of years in Range, a million souls have been reincarnated over and over, keeping their memories and experiences from previous lifetimes. When Ana was born, another soul vanished, and no one knows why.

No soul

Even Ana’s own mother thinks she’s a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. To escape her seclusion and learn whether she’ll be reincarnated, Ana travels to the city of Heart, but its citizens are afraid of what her presence means. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?

Heart

Sam believes Ana’s new soul is good and worthwhile. When he stands up for her, their relationship blooms. But can he love someone who may live only once, and will Ana’s enemies—human and creature alike—let them be together? Ana needs to uncover the mistake that gave her someone else’s life, but will her quest threaten the peace of Heart and destroy the promise of reincarnation for all?"

Don't be afraid of the darkness of feels!

PS: Everyone deserves this cover because DAYUM.
