Bookish Gifts For Book Lovers

December 02, 2016 20 Comments

December, the festive season. A nice warm fire crackling in the fireplace, warm chocolate with little marshmallows, the Christmas's tree lights bringing the living room and most importantly giving and receiving personal gifts. During this season, you are being put to the ultimate test to find the perfect gift. This isn't always an easy task especially for someone you hardly speak to since they have their nose buried in a book 24/7, we made it a little easier. These are gifts we book lovers would love and appreciate to receive.
Candles
Yes, candles. These however aren't just candles, they are scented candles that smell like bookish things. For instance Harry Potters butter beer. Some examples of Etsy accounts who sell them are 'BurningPagesCandles' and 'TheMeltingLibrary'! This is a fun and unique gift perfect for during reading time. And also; which book lover doesn't want their room to smell like their favorite character? *sniffs Rowan Whitethorn candle one more time*

Bookmarks
On Etsy.com you can find a lot of personalized bookmarks, whether it's about a book/series, a character or just books in general. Most of which are made by hand and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. You could even try making one yourself!

Funko's
If you have never heard of Funko's you are missing out! Funko's are dolls that look like My Sims characters and they have a lot of bookish characters (but also games and anime). Which book lover wouldn't love to have a figure of their favorite character to decorate their beloved bookshelf with?

Mugs
A mug is also a great idea to gift to your bookish friend. If you simply go to Etsy.com and search 'Book Mug' you'll get a load of different sellers. And if you don't want to order one and pay for shipping on top of that, or want a more personalized one, you can also design one yourself! That's what I did with my mug that you can see in the picture down below. Just go to one of those websites where you can print pictures onto things, design a photo with your quote and order it!

Books, duh
Obviously, the best book gift for a book lover are books. Take a look at your friends 'to read' list on Goodreads if you don't want them to find out, or just ask them which book they really want. What's even more fun is to buy your friend a book that you really liked, that way you can talk about it together! The best website for ordering books is probably bookdepository.com, they have good prices, sometimes great deals and free shipping worldwide! AND on top of that you get an adorable free bookmark with every order, which you can also give to your friend or secretly keep yourself.

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and that you receive many great bookish gifts. Let us know in the comments what you are planning to buy for your friends and if this blogpost helped you with your decision!

Readers Confessions Tag

April 18, 2016 1 Comments

We love to do tags, and we both know you all love to read them. That's why we are back with another one, this time the Readers Confessions Tag. This is a tag that will tell you a little bit more about us as readers.

Question of the day:
What's your worst reading habit? (like eating while you're reading and ruining the book, dog-earing the pages ect.)

1. Have you ever damaged your own book?
Amber: I have, but not on purpose. I was reading A Game Of Thrones about one and a half years ago, which is a Mass Market Paperback (ugh I hate those) and they are so hard to read. I ended up cracking the spine like a million times, which is very painful. Same story for The Fellowship Of The Ring.
Shania: I've had a bunny for over a four years, and I know very well that he eats remotely everything, It wasn't a smart idea to leave my hardcover of Gone on the couch. Yes, the thing can even climb up or couch. He chewed up the whole front of the cover and it honesty makes me so sad...

2. Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?
Amber: No, because I never borrow books, the rist I'll ruin it is too big and I wouldn't be able to live with myself than.
Shania: Nope, I never really borrow books because I like owning them better. And when I do borrow a book I am even more careful than with my own books.

3. How long does it take you to read a book?
Amber: It really depends on how much I like the book and if it's big or not. When I don't like the book but it's only 400 pages, it will take me a week to read. When I love the book and it's 700 pages I will finish it in 4 days.
Shania: That really depends. If I get sucked into the story, I can read it in three days. But it can also take me three weeks. It also depends on how much time I have.

4. Books that you haven’t finished?
Amber: The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. I don't even know why, I just thought the book was slow and not much was happening. I think I mainly stopped because I just wasn't in the mood for historical fiction. I may pick it up again in the near future.
Shania: Pft, so many!! But I am most ashamed about A Court of Thorns and Roses, because it's honestly such a good book, but I will make it my goal to finish it before the new book comes out!

5. Hyped/popular books that you don’t like?
Amber: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I just thought there wasn't anything special about it, I've read so many books that were better than that one. I honestly don't really see why John Green is so famous.
Shania: I have to go with The Fault In Our Stars as well. And while I don't have anything against John Green, his stories seem kind of the same thing over and over again to me. There's a boy, there's a girl but in the end they can be together. And I already think lovestory's suck! But when there's so much build up and there's not even an ending the characters deserve to have, it makes me SUPER FRUSTRATED RAHGH

6. Is there a book that you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?
Amber: Perhaps like 50 Shades Of Grey if I would ever read that...Not that I'm planning to, but if there was any book I wouldn't want people see me reading it'd probably be that one.
Shania: Ehhmmmmm.... any John Green novel? I'd feel ashamed especially towards Ambs. Pls don't kill me, I'm a nice girl I swear!

7. How many books do you own?
Amber: right now I own 79 books, but I pre-ordered A Court Of Mist And Fury, so actually it's 80. And I have no idea for how long it'll stay that way, because I am tempted to buy new books far too often.
Shania: Uhm..... I honestly have no idea, I have books scattered everywhere since my mom and dad are divorced, but I think I have about 20 books at my dad.

8. Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?
Amber: I always considered myself a slow reader and I used to only be able to read like 25-30 pages an hour. Recently I set my stopwatch and time how much I can read an hour if I read at my usual pace and I read 65 pages, so I think I'm about an average reader now.
Shania: Slow, and I even wrote a post on the matter.

"There are numbers of research studies that tell us that kids who tend to read slower than other people have a lack of fluency, meaning they could just have Dyslexia. But guess what? I love being a slow reader, I will never be a fast reader and here are some reasons why."

9. Do you like to buddy read?
Amber: I do, though I've never done it before. I would love to read the same book at the same time with someone and discuss everything afterwards.
Shania: I'd love to, but I think I will never find someone with the same reading pace as me. I've been in a really long reading slump lately and I just need to pick up a book again, but I JUST GET DISTRACTED BY EVERYTHING LATELY.

10. Do you read better in your head or out loud?
Amber: Oh definitely in my head. I absolutely HATE reading out loud. I stumble over the words and just don't feel comfortable, especially when others are listening. I am too scared to make mistakes. Guess I'll never be an audio book narrator hahaha.
Shania: Everything sounds okay when I say it in my head, then I try to read out loud and then there's a stutter I have never heard me have before. It works better when I know what the text says before I read it out loud...?

11. If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?
Amber: I have two books that really mean a lot to me and I am not going to pick between them: Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas and Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. I cannot choose, it's like picking a favourite child.
Shania: This is such a hard question, but I think I'm gonna go with The Hobbit because the story NEVER bores me. I can read it as many times as I would want to without getting even slightly bored.

Thoughts Authors Have

February 29, 2016 0 Comments

As some of you might know, we are about 100.000 words into our first fantasy novel and are planning our second book series at this very moment. As aspiring authors, we have come across some strange thoughts we are sure other authors have had as well. Today we will take you into the creative brain of an author and share all our secret thoughts with you.

*while rereading the last chapter you wrote*
"Jee, I wonder what is going to happen next..."
Wait, I'm the author.

"What if I just kill of this character...?"

*Thinks deeply*
"No, too precious. I'll kill that one"

*while writing a sad scene*
"FEEL THE PAIN, LET THE FEELS SPILL OUT OF YOUR EYES LIKE A RAINSHOWER!!!"
Poor character, it really deserves better.

*staring at an empty screen*
"What are words and how do I make them again?"

"Please publish my book, pls, I promise that the ending is worth it"
By that I mean the end of the sixth book ;)

*staring at empty screen again*
"I wonder what youtube is up to"

*Does anything but write*
''Ayo Tumblr. What'up my matey"

*book is already 20.000 words*
"Lmao, I haven't even finished 1/3 of the book. Lmao

"Fantasy. Okay, I need the strangest name that I can possibly find"
*uses fantasy name generator*
''Bagyega..."
*Sigh*
"okay maybe one less strange?"

"Can these two just do it already? It's obvious they are into each other"
*frustrated dinosaur sounds*

*underneath the shower*
"Ohmygod I have the best idea ever"

*on the toilet*
"Ohmygod I have the best idea ever"

*wakes up from sleep gasping*
"Ohmygod I have the best idea ever"

*while editing past chapters*
''What the heck. I don't remember writing this... Did I really write this. Iewl #sobad"

*scrolls further down*
"Oh this I remember. Haha. I'm hilarious"

''Okay"
*cracks knuckles*
*puts on badass music*
"Epic battle here I come"

"If this character was real. It would so hate me"
*deepest sigh ever*

''I can hardly remember what happened the last six chapters. What do I do now"
*Panic mode activated*

Soo.. That is kind of how we think sometimes... Yes. A little crazy and unorginized... Or well a whole lot. I hope you enjoyed that! Make sure to follow our blog so you get notifications when we upload and leave a comment :D!

Top 5 Tuesday's | Books You Have No Interest In Reading

February 24, 2016 0 Comments

Everybody has books they are just not interested in reading, no matter how many people tell you you should read them. Today we will share 5 of those books/series with you. Now, of course, if you like these books, we are not trying to offend you, these are just our personal opinions.

Ambers #5
The first book series I have no interest in reading is The Selection Series. I see so many people on tumblr reading these books and I heard it's like the bachelor but like the book version. After that I read the summary of the first book and it really doesn't sound like something I would enjoy...(and I hate the covers)

Shania's #5
The Hunger Games. Hahaha, yes go ahead murder me for being a bad kid. Spank me. No wait don't do that. That's weird. No but seriously. I have no interest in reading these books because they seem so overly hyped to me. There is like literally no person who has not heard about it. It just kind of ruins the whole thing for me. AND NO I AM NOT A HIPSTER.

Ambers #4
I also have no interest in reading the Vampire Academy and the Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead. I've been getting so many messages on Tumblr with people telling me these books are great and that I should read them, but honestly the entire 'vampire' thing is not making me excited to read it.

Shania's #4
The Fault In Our Stars. I don't know why, but I just don't really like lovey dovey stories. And even though I am a fan of non-happy-endings, this story just doesn't suit my line of books I'd like to read. Sorry John Green'O. No offence, he seems like a cool guy.

Ambers #3
Every novel John Green writes. (I feel like I'm offending so many people right now, just wait till you get to my number 1). I read The Fault In Our Stars, expecting to read the greatest book ever written, as so many people see it. I thought there was nothing special about the way John Green writes, I didn't really see anything special about the characters (besides the cancer of course) and I generally just don't like reading contemporary books. This is why I won't pick up any of his other books, no matter how many people tell me I should read them because TFIOS isn't his best book.

Shania's #3
The Perks Of Being a Wallflower. Another contemporary book. What a surprise. I haven't even watched the movie yet, and I watch anything that involves around Emma Watson. This just doesn't seem like my kind of book. I just really prefer more fantasy settings. And I especially hate typical high school settings, especially especially if no supernatural or fantasy is involved.

Ambers #2
The Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. Yes, another really famous series I have no interest in reading. I have seen like 2 movies and I enjoyed them (although everybody says the movies are so bad), but I don't feel like reading the books at all. The first thing that bothers me is the fact that Percy is (I believe) 12 years old when the story starts. I just can't relate to people who are having the greatest adventures at that age, I'm sorry, it just feels so unrealistic to me. When I was 12 years old I played at playgrounds and was obsessed with Nickelodeon...I wasn't killing god knows what, as Percy does in the books.
I do have to say that I read Magus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan and I thought it was hilarious. I still don't want to read Percy Jackson, though.

Shania's #2
The Selection. I don't know what it is with these books. Everyone seems to love 'em dearly. But it just seems to Bachelor like for me. But then like, written down. Also the girl her name is America Singer and in my head that just doesn't work, I'll be reading that as American Singer. Sorry that's just what my brain tends to do.

Ambers #1
Here we go: the post I am going to offend most people with: I have no interest in reading Harry Potter. It has been soooo incredibly hyped and therefor I just feel like not reading it anymore. I think I should have read it when I was younger, because I don't think I would enjoy it as much now...There are other popular series that I have read and loved, like the Song Of Ice and Fire, the Throne Of Glass series and the Mortal Instruments, but with Harry Potter it's different. EVERYBODY knows Harry Potter. Literally, walk up to any random person on the street and ask 'Hey, do you know what Harry Potter is?' They will know. This is just kind of keeping me from reading these books...

Shania's #1
My number one: Twilight. But everyone can pretty much guess why?

~It's a wrap~ Or well for now. What is your Top 5 on this Tuesday's topic? Make sure to leave us a comment so we can discuss! ^^

*How surprising, a top 5 Tuesday's that is not on a Tuesday. Slow clap.

Top 5 Tuesday's | Book Worlds You Would Like To Live In

February 16, 2016 1 Comments

If you have been following our blog for a while now, you may already know this: we are both massive fantasy lovers. When we come across a book with a map in it, our hearts start to beat faster, because let's be real: Books with maps are the best books. Today we will be sharing the fictional universes that we would like to live in with all of our amazing readers.

Ambers #5
The first fictional universe I would love to live in is the Shadowhunter world from the Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices. Now I know that these books take place in our world, but it's so different, because there's demons and fairies and werewolfs and vampires. It would be so cool if that would be our world.

Shania's #5
There are so many book worlds I would love to live in, I have therefor chosen the world of where Wizardry was born. Harry Potter. So I am most definetly a Gryffindor. I would probably be the kind of girl that gets herself into a lot of trouble because my best friend and I would dare eachother to do stupid things.

Ambers #4
I know some people might call me crazy, because it doesn't seem like a great place to live at all, but I could see myself living in Westeros. The world from the amazing Song Of Ice And Fire series. Westeros seems like such a grim and depressing world, because of all the murders and rape (and let's not forget about the threat of the white walkers beyond the wall, several kings and one queen saying they have a claim to the throne and a bunch of fuckers like Ramsay Snow walking around), but I could still see myself live there. If I could choose, I'd live in Winterfell, but only if the Starks rule the castle, not the Boltons.

Shania's #4
Although I have not read these books yet, I would like to live in the world of Game of Thrones, just to see how long I could survive until my death. I think my death would be rather soon if I am purely honest. I'd after all be just a regular peasant that found herself in the middle of a battle.. This is starting to sound like a fanfiction.....

I'll stop here before it gets too graphic.

Ambers #3
Another world I'd like to live in is the world from Sarah J Maas her novel A Court Of Thorns And Roses. Would I want to live in the Human realm or in Prythian? Prythian, duh. It just seems like such an interesting land to live in. I loved to find out the history of everything that happened during the War and Amarantha taking over. I can't wait to find out more in A Court Of Mist And Fury.
Where in Prythian would I live? The Night Court, without a doubt. I hate sun, because I get a sunburn every time I go into it and I just prefer night. (but let's be honest, the real reason I want to live in the Night Court is because of its incredibly sexy High Lord)

Shania's #3
Give it up for Tir Na Nog. For those of you who don't know where the hell that is. Check out my previous post about one of my favorite and very underrated books: Shadowmagic.
Tir Na Nog just seems like an awesome place to be, I'd volunteer to watch over my darling Tuan. And I think, if I ever got to learn it. I'd be pretty epic with bow and arrow. Then again, Cialtie's head is not something you can miss.

Ambers #2
I'd also love to live in Erilea or Wendlyn, both lands from the Throne Of Glass. If I had to choose I'd probably live in Wendlyn, but not in Doranelle because I wouldn't want Maeve ruling over me. I'd probably live at the fortress Aelin and Rowan stayed most of Heir Of Fire. The people there seemed nice and life looked great. If I had to choose somewhere in Erilea to live, I'd go for Terrassen, obviously. But only with one of the Ashryvers or Galanthynius' ruling, not the King of Adarlan.

Shania's #2
I don't know why, but the Shadowhunter world has become my number two. I think, I don't know, but I think I would be a cool Shadowhunter. I just need to get my sass a little bit more out there. But besides being an awesome demon fighting babe, I'd try turning Alec bisexsual. Because come on... the dude is hot as fuck.
And if that doesn't work.

We could always share Magnus???
 no? no? okay...

Ambers #1
The number one world I'd like to live in, is without a doubt Middle Earth. I saw Lord Of The Rings for the first time when I was eight years old and I've been in love with the world ever since. If I got to choose who to be and where to live, I'd be an Elf and live in either Rivendell, The Woodland Realm or Lothlórien. But I'd be fine with living anywhere, really. (well not Mordor but okay...)

Shania's #1

Very similar to Amber's number one, I have also picked Middle Earth. For me, Middle Earth is like the birthplace of adventures. ANDDD I do sometimes look a bit like an elf. Perhaps I am Legolas' long lost niece. Who am I kidding. His family is waaay too gorgeos for me..

A girl can only dream.

Also, I could just walk around for days without getting bored.
(I wanna go to New Zaeland :( )

Top 5 Tuesday's | Books You Were Spoiled For

February 09, 2016 1 Comments

Don't we all hate them: Spoilers. We have both been spoiled for quite some books and today we will share all of these with you. The title of the book will be bold, so you know which books will be discussed, because we don't want to spoil you too. If you read them anyway and are spoiled, it's not our fault, you have been warned hahaha.

Ambers #5
Divergent
I thought it was a great idea to start watching booktube videos about a year ago and that's how I was spoiled for the death of Tris in Allegiant. When I got to the end of Allegiant, I know what was coming, but that didn't make it any less bad. It was horrible.

Shania's #5
The Keeper
I basically spoiled myself because I had confused the second book for the first book so I was a few chapters deep into the second book and then I realised that this couldn't have been the first book. So I checked goodreads and it is true

Ambers #4
The Infernal Devices
I haven't even READ the Infernal Devices yet, but I've already been spoiled because of Pinterest. I was casually searching the Shadowhunters tag, because at the time I was reading the Mortal Instruments. That's how I came across the fact that Will Herondale dies. I know who Will is and I know everybody loves him, so his death will probably hurt a lot.

Shania's #4
The Mortal Instruments
Thank you Amber, the spoilers were lovely. But I asked for them myself.

Ambers #3
The Mortal Instruments
I spoiled MYSELF for the Mortal Instruments. I was reading City Of Glass and I knew Jonathan was on the cover of City Of Heavenly Fire, so I was like, ah I wonder when Jonathan is introduced in the story. I didn't know Jonathan and Sebastian were the same person at the time, that's what I spoiled myself for. Then I read his character profile and see that HE DIED. God dammit why do I always spoil myself.

Shania's #3
Throne of Glass
Again, thanks Ambs!

Ambers #2
Throne Of Glass
Yep, I spoiled myself for the Throne Of Glass series too. I was reading Throne Of Glass and wanted to follow more blogs on Tumblr, so I searched the tag on Tumblr and found out Nehemia died, great. I really liked Nehemia and was very sad she died, especially the way it all happened. I should really stop spoiling myself.

Shania's #2
The Darkest Powers

There are these things called Fanfictions, and when the summary says SPOILERS, definitely don't read them if you don't want to be spoiled because that is what happened to me.

Ambers #1
Game Of Thrones
I have spoiled myself for Game Of Thrones SO many times. When I started watching the show, season 4 was just starting and so I went to the tumblr tag and these are all the characters I found out died: Robert Baratheon, Ned Stark, Viserys Targaryen, Khal Drogo, Catelyn Tully, Robb Stark, Oberyn Martell, Tywin Lannister, Ygritte and Shae.
How many times can you possibly spoil yourself. I wasn't spoiled for Jon Snow though and I WISH I WAS, MAYBE MY HORROR WOULD HAVE BEEN LESS BAD I CRIED FOR 45 MINUTES.

Shania's #1
The Gone Series
I spoiled myself so hard with Caine's dead. I was like, at first I didn't believe it, I didn't WANT to believe it. But then pictures of Caine's last lines started popping up everywhere and then I drowned in my pool of tears because I was so frigging upset with Caine Soren's death. Like, I know he was a dick most of the time, but I just loved the guy.

Top 5 Tuesday's | Characters Who Shouldn't Have Died

February 02, 2016 0 Comments

Don't we all have those books in which a character we loved died and we end up as a sobbing mess because of it? Of course, we have those books too, that's why this weeks Top 5 Tuesdays is dedicted to characters who shouldn't have died.
Because we don't want to SPOIL you about characters, these are the BOOKS THAT WILL BE MENTIONED: Divergent, A Song Of Ice And Fire (Game Of Thrones), The Mortal Instruments, Shadowmagic, Newsoul (Asunder), Gone Series (

Amber's #5
Uriah Pedrad from Divergent is the first character I think shouldn't have died. He was such a great and funny character and he didn't deserve the death he was given. To me, it kind of feels like Veronica killed him JUST to create a shock effect...Uriah did nothing wrong, he just happened to be standing in the wrong spot.

Shania's #5
Technically he didn't die, and I have yet to read the third book in this series, but just let me tell you how upset I was for Chris to turn into a sylph. Yes, I'm talking about the Chris from the Newsoul series written by Jodi Meadows. Yes, I nearly cried. Yes, I'm scared to continue because it's the last book in the series. Yes, shame on me.

Amber's #4
Catelyn Stark from the Song Of Ice And Fire series is the second character I think shouldn't have died. Just like Uriah, she just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I also think Robb shouldn't have died, but I can understand  his death; he was a big threat and needed to be gone, but Cat did nothing wrong. All she did was care about her children and tried to be a good mother. She deserved better.

Shania's #4
THORIN FUDGING OAKENSHIEL WHY. Especially his last words brought the biggest tears into my eyes. Why must life be so extremely painful? Why must book characters die? Because when they die, a little piece of my heart dies too.

"If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. But, sad or merry, I must leave it now. Farewell."

Amber's #3
The third character who deserved a lot better is Tris Prior, also from the Divergent trilogy. I knew she was going to die, because I was spoiled, I just didn't know how. I still try not to think about her death, because it was so incredibly sad. The poor girl did everything she could to protect the people she loves and was killed by being shot. After I read that scene I couldn't continue reading, I just couldn't. I read the epilogue of Divergent a day later, because I was so hurt by her death.

Shania's #3
BRIANNA THE BREEZE, She was my little baby! I loved the girl so much and I shipped Brekka like die hard! Seeing that there were only two gay ships in gone, but still. Dekka's love for Brianna was to die for. Now we are both devistated and heartbroken. At this moment, Dekka and I share the same feels.

"I’m the Breeze, bitch"

The second character who didn't deserve to die is Jonathan Morgenstern from The Mortal Instruments. Now let me explain, because I know a lot of people hate Sebastian (though I personally love him). Yes, Sebastian was a huge threat and needed to die, but the demon blood burned out of him and Jonathan came back. I would have loved for Jonathan to get a shot at being a normal teenage boy, fall in love, have friends. Sebastian was an ass, but I think Jonathan would have been an amazing brother to Clary and a great friend for the group. I was very sad he died anyway.

I was honestly so upset to hear about the death of Caine Soren. I was devistaded, seeing he always had a spot in my heart. I fell in love with him the first book, could sometimes understand his reasons but most of all just hoped that one day Caine Soren would realise that good things come to those who do good things. But not with Caine I guess...

"Diana:
I'm sorry for hurting you. I know I did. I'm most likely dead now,
and I guess if there's any kind of fairness in the afterlife I'm in hell getting roasted. But if that's where I am, I want you to know, I still love you. I always did.

Love,
Caine"

The final character and one I was definitely most sad about (aka I cried for 40 minutes straight) was JON SNOW MY BEAUTIFUL BABY HE DESERVED SO MUCH BETTER. Now let me just rant about his death for a minute (from what I have seen in the tv show bc I'm only in the 3th ASOIAF book). He was just trying to help the wildlings, give them a chance at life. He wanted to save their families, tried to do a good thing. In the end he got stabbed by his own brothers because of it.
I have to say; I believe 100% that he will come back in season 6. I personally think he will be brought back by Melisandre, that way she can make up for BURNING SHIREEN ALIVE. Another character who deserved a much better faith than she got in the series.

THE FIRSTS THING I DID WHEN DISCOVERING THAT HE DIED WAS CLOSE THE FUDGING BOOK AND PREPARE MYSELF. I'm talking about Fergil from shadowmagic, who captured the place of favorite character ever since he was introduced. And the most painful thing was, that Conor kept mentioning him, STABBING ME IN THE FEELS IN THE SAME WAY FERGIL WAS STABBED. I kept telling myself he wasn't dead, that he'd just get up. But no.. I couldn't read for two entire days because I was too upset.

"Then, he did the most fergilish thing: He laughed.
He pointed to the handle of the sword and said: Will ya look at that"

Which characters do you think shouldn't have died? Do you agree with us, or maybe not at all? Let us know in the comments.

Top 5 Tuesday's: Fan Casts

January 26, 2016 0 Comments

Today we chose to share out 5 fan casts with you. We made the choice not to use books that have already been turned into movies or tv shows, Game Of Thrones for example, because those books obviously already have casts. These aren't really in a specific order, they are just the fan casts we want to see happen the most.

Amber's #5

This is actually a recast and I know we decided not to use any characters who have already been cast, but I just need to say this: Jace from the Mortal Instruments. As we all know, Shadowhunters is releasing in January and Dominic Sherwood is playing Jace this time. As we ALSO know, City Of Bones was also a movie, where Jamie Campbell Bower played Jace and let me just say that they should have cast him again for Shadowhunters. I mean LOOK AT HIM, he is the PERFECT Jace. The hair, the attitude, everything is perfect and he did such a good job in the movie. I was really hoping that they would cast him again, but sadly that didn't happen. I do have to say that I love the rest of the Shadowhunters cast.

Okay okay, I am most certainly not good at picking a fancast, like: No, Nope, NOOHW!
But since we are doing this post. Let's just try. It might be really amusing. So, for my first fancast we have Simon Bae from the Darkest Powers Trilogy. I thought this was a really though character to cast since we know he is biracial.
I choose Kim Taehyung as his faceclaim. I know that there is no way that he will be able to play Simon Bae because his english is terrible, but this is more of how I would picture Simon. Besides, it is quite hard to find an Asian actor with perfect English and blonde hair.......

Oh well.

My next fan cast is Sam Claflin for Dorian Havilliard, now let me explain, because they don't really look alike. Despite this I think Sam would absolutely NAIL the role of Dorian Havilliard. Dorian is a cheeky and very charming prince and if you look at roles Sam played before, Finnick from the Hunger Games for example, he is both cheeky AND charming. Besides this Sam is an AMAZING actor. Like I already said before, he would nail this role.

Okay, the second I watched shadowhunters I cried because Jace was so poorly casted, and then came Alec and I immediately shut up. WHERE HAS THIS BEING BEEN ALL MY LIFE? Matthew Daddario is like his sister, drop fudging dead gorgeous.
Shamefully he doesn't have the blue shiners, but... I found Kevin Zegers a really good cast as well, but Matthew Daddario blends so well with the character, his body language, way of speaking, everything.

Yeah..

HUNTER PARRISH FOR AARON WARNER. There, I said it. This NEEDS to happen. Hunter is an actor already and he looks EXACTLY like Warner from the Shatter Me books. Sometimes I secretly watch interviews with Hunter Parrish, just because he reminds me of Warner so bad that it actually feels like I'm watching Warner instead of Hunter. I mean look at that face. The only thing that has to change is his eye color, but contacts exists so that's not a problem.

Since Matthew Daddario is my pick for Alec, I actually found out that his sister could make a pretty good Isabelle. They should have casted her instead of Emeraude Toubia. I think Emeraude is beautiful, but she doesn't exactly fit with Isabelle, or at least that is what I think.

There for,

Alexandra Daddario ladies and gents.

Now I know I am not the only one who wants him to play this character, because most people on Tumblr use him as a fan cast, but I want Lucky Blue Smith to play Jonathan Morgenstern from The Mortal Instruments. They look EXACTLY alike. From the white blonde hair, to the length of the hair, to his face and even his age. Lucky is actually a model, but I read that he is starring in a movie next year, so there is still hope. If they cast him for Shadowhunters, I need a lot of ice cream because my feels will be all over the place.

Shania's #2

As my second fan cast I choose Alycia Debnam Carey for the role of Feyre from A Court of Thornes and Roses. I think she would fit the character very well, from what I have seen on the 100 she can play a really badass character, and we all know Feyre becomes a fudging badass by the end of the book. Beside that Alycia Debnam Carey is beautiful and also has a bit of an innocent look that I just love about her.

I hope you can agree with me...

This is the one I am probably most certain about and that is Sam Heughan for Rowan Whitethorn (Throne Of Glass). I recently started watching Outlander, in where Sam plays Jamie Fraser and whilst I was watching it, I was like: I can actually picture him as Rowan. With a white blonde wig on, Rowan's tattoo on his face and pine green eyes, I think he could be a really good Rowan.

He certainly has the right expression on his face for him.

Last but not least, I have decided to cast my favorite character from the gone series, and I know he is supposed to be the bad guy, I have a certain weakness for him. Im talking about Richard Harmon as Drake Merwin. Hell yeah, I love this fancast, Richard would make a great Drake! And he has the look for him. Although in my imagination Drake is undyingly hot (Lol that pun tho) I am still going with Richard as my fancast.

DRAKE,
WHIP IT,
WHIP IT REAL GOOD.
WHIP YOUR WHIP BACK AND FORTH.
Sorry

Top 5 Tuesday's: Books You Have Been Meaning To Read Forever

December 15, 2015 0 Comments

As every Tuesday (except for a few because we are horrible bloggers) we are back with a Top 5 Tuesday's. This week we chose for the subject ''Books or series we have been meaning to read forever'', because we have quite a lot.

Amber's #5
The fifth series I have been dying to read forever and actually already own the first two books of, is the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer. These are fairytale retellings, but with a very special twist. A deadly plague threathens the world and the lunar people watch from space, waiting to make their move. Cinder, the main character in this book is a cyborg. She's a lower citizen with a mysterious past, but as she meets the charming Prince Kai, she finds herself in an intergalactic struggle.
I have never read a sci-fi book before and usually don't really like movies or books in this genre, but this concept sounds so interesting and I love fairy tale retellings, so I really have to read this.

Okay, I got this book for Christmas last year, so that literally means I got it a year ago, The Mortal Instrument: City of Bones. And I just never came down to it. Then Amber started the series not so long ago and I realized that I have been waiting way to long. I made it into the first quarter of the book but put it down for some reason...

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

The fourth series I have been meaning to read literally forever, is the Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes. In the three kingdoms of Mytica, magic has been gone for a very long time and peace has reigned ever since, but a deadly threat is coming. As the three Kings try to grapple power, the lives of their subjects are brutally transformed.
I have heard that this series is basically the young adult version of Game Of Thrones, and that is my favourite show, so I really want to read this series, especially with the fourth book, Frozen Tides, releasing today.

Shania's #4
One of Amber's recommendations, Throne Of Glass. And I seriously love the book. I have read the first one like halfway through, but I just have a thing for replacing books with other books. So, I seriously need to sit my ass down and read through this book, so I can both make Amber a really happy fangirl and treat myself with some good fantasy.

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Amber's #3
The third series I really need to read are the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. I actually started reading this book and got to page 50 or something, but I was in a massive reading slump at the time and this wasn't the good book to read, since it's pretty long and complicated.
In the first book, The Name Of The Wind, we look back at the tale of Kvothe, told by himself after it all happened. Kvothe is a young man gifted with magic, who grows to be the most dangerous and notorious wizard of the whole world. The intimate narrative of his childhood in a troupe of traveling players, his years spent as a near-feral orphan in a crime-ridden city, his daringly brazen yet successful bid to enter a legendary school of magic, and his life as a fugitive after the murder of a king form a gripping coming-of-age story unrivaled in recent literature.

Shania's #3
Odd Thomas, okay don't judge me but I fell in love with the movie and wanted to read the books ever since. I know that Odd Thomas comes with many. I don't know how many so far. I don't even know if there are still books coming out. But there is one thing I know for sure, I WANT TO READ THESE BOOKS SO BADLY.

"The dead don't talk. I don't know why." But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Odd Thomas thinks of himself as an ordinary guy, if possessed of a certain measure of talent at the Pico Mundo Grill and rapturously in love with the most beautiful girl in the world, Stormy Llewellyn.

Amber's #2
The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon is yet another series I really need to read...I recently started watching the show and I love it so much, so of course, I have to read the books as well. Although I already wanted to read the books before I started watching the show.
In Outlander, we follow main protagonist Claire Randall as she accidentally travels back in time from 1945 to 1743. She is thrown in the middle of the Scottish rebellion against the English. Here she faces many treats, such as her husbands ancestor who turns out to be a sadistic bastard, but also meets charming new people, Jamie Fraser for example. She desperately tries to get back to her own time, but when she finally has the chance, does she still want to?

Shania's #2
The Lorien Legacies is yet another series I have badly set my mind upon. Too bad for me, cuz I'm too broke to buy the books. It's also not as popular is books like Divergent and The Hunger Games which I am really fond of. I prefer the lesser known books. But when I say, I Am Number Four, everyone probably knows what I am talking about. Anyway, Six is a babe, just saying.

Nine of us came here. We look like you. We talk like you. We live among you. But we are not you. We can do things you dream of doing. We have powers you dream of having. We are stronger and faster than anything you have ever seen. We are the superheroes you worship in movies and comic books--but we are real.

Okay so here comes the shame: I have never read the Harry Potter books. Yes, I haven't. I want to though, please don't hate on me! There were just a lot of books I wanted to read a lot more...But I will say this: in 2016, I WILL read Harry Potter, I will!

I HAVE BEEN DYING TO READ THE LORD OF THE RINGS. NUF SAID!
